Most migrant domestic workers are mothers, or will become mothers, who leave their children behind with caregivers. Living apart from a parent can affect a child’s mental health, emotional security, and progress at school, and many mothers carry heavy guilt and worry as a result. This course exists to fill a gap: until now, there has been no free, easy-to-access course to help mothers build the skills to connect and parent from a distance.

It gives mothers practical, emotional, and communication tools to stay close to their children, work well with caregivers, manage guilt and money pressure, and build a shared plan for the future. This six-week programme combines core lessons with a three-week practicum, so you practise what you learn as you go. It covers building a “Family Team,” staying connected through everyday digital contact, and letting go of guilt.

  • No laptop needed- students can use a simple smartphone.
  • Self-paced with no scheduled meetings- pick up lessons where you left off whenever you have time.
  • Supported by a class WhatsApp chat led by a trained domestic worker, sharing her wealth of experience and guidance.
  • Learners chat online and experience a peer support network whilst learning.
